Negative Divergence On Most Sectors

The SPY has made another up day today thanks to the impressive earnings report from Apple (AAPL).No doubt the bulls seems like over powering the bears lately, the negative divergence across the broad market is something that we have to watch out closely. (Notice the SPY making high peaks, while the MACD is starting to create lower peaks?)

If we take a look at the overall sectors' performance, we would be able to have a broader sense of idea what's actually happening.

The above shows the 9 major sectors of ETFs.

Take a closer look at each of them.

Except the Energy sector (XLE) and the Consumer Staple (XLP) , the rest of the sectors are already started showing some Negative Divergence. This shows a sign of weakness in the up moving momentum.

ALTR is also showing the same negative divergence too, but there's really something interesting to talk about ALTR........

ALTR formed a very long tailed hammer last Friday (kangaroo tail, in barchart language).

Last night, ALTR opened lower, but then closed above, forming a classic Bullish Engulfing pattern.

Both bullish patterns, confirming each other, right at the support area of $21.00 and the 10MA.

The only thing is that, the volume is a bit shy from the average volume.

Nonetheless, with all the Negative Divergence that we're seeing in the broad market, this doesn't mean that it will immediately make a turn around and reverse the current up trend to down trend.

It's just giving out clues that, the current up trend is started loosing steam, and that the momentum is not as strong as before anymore.

We should always heed these little clues, and it really pays to pay attention to them.................
