The Stem Cell Marketing Failure and Octuplets

I'm not at all surprised by the enormity of the stem cell debate in the United States. After all, the consequences of stem cell research are a life and death matter. This debate, however, is apropos of the greater divide between the religious and the less religious in America. That's right, there is room for defining one's own level of religious beliefs.

While the bedrock of organized religion is the unquestioned faith in its teachings, I propose that this inflexibility has ultimately led to the demise of religion in the modern world. The Catholic Church may be seeing this as well. In recent years, as their numbers of faithful across the western world have dwindled, they have quietly been easing some of the restrictions that market research likely has told them to let go. They wrestle with questions such as:

Are we better off maintaining our audience of parishioners and continuing to preach the word of God or saying here we are; please come through our doors so we may preach the word of God to you?

In essence, I would rather have the opportunity to speak with you about something rather than not have your audience at all. Since the translation of the Bible into German by Martin Luther, the role of the clergy has gotten significantly more challenging in direct proportion to their ever inquisitive and better educated flock. The burden of accountability has fallen on the church in a way like never before in history.

So what's this all about then? How do we define our own level of religious beliefs? The faithful do this every day of their lives. With every choice they face, they apply a set of beliefs that only they are responsible for nurturing. They choose what and how much of something to have faith in. They choose if and how often they attend church. They choose to follow one tenant but not another. Many choose to keep their relationship with God between themselves and the almighty; leaving the organized portion out altogether. Do they have any less faith and spirituality; I'm sure they do not.

So, are we are faced with the unyielding decision to honor our God, yet not care for the millions of human beings suffering with mind altering diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's? Of course not! One needs to simply counter balance their core values with their level of interest in the area of stem cell research.

I'd like to help influence your level of interest in the area of stem cell research, now.

Let us start with a few points we may agree on:

>>>>A healthy nation is a better nation.

>>>>It is far less expensive to be proactive in fighting disease than to respond reactively.

>>>>We all know someone with one or more of the following diseases, conditions, or disabilities: Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, spinal cord injury, stroke, burns, heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis, or rheumatoid arthritis

Great, then let's get down to business. Stem cell research holds tremendous promise in finding cures to every one of the unfortunate sufferings listed above. If our students in school don't have a reasonable expectation of achieving an "A" on a test or quiz, does that mean they should not even bother attempting the exercise? Of course not, in fact they must take the test in order to evaluate where they are with regards to the subject matter. Just because I use the word promise in what stem cell research could do is no reason not to invest in it. Every year we spend far more money on programs with less promise, less worldly benefit, and even greater discord among parties.

Research in human embryonic stem cells has enjoyed a small amount of federal funding since August 9th, 2001, when President George W. Bush announced his policy on the matter. Like every big decision from Washington DC though, this policy held a cautious balance between the far right and the left in America. A limited number of existing lines of human embryonic stem cells were approved for the federal research dollars. The amount provided for was thought by some to be enough for a meaningful chance at a cure and by others; no limit on the amount was thought to be acceptable.

This soon spawned one of our nation's great strengths into action, states' rights. California and New Jersey led the early charge in public financing of stem cell research. Both states invested millions in long term research grants for facilities within their borders. It's no wonder that this eventuality came about. States are on the front lines of health care costs associated with these long term debilitating diseases and ailments. They have chosen to invest in the health of their residents and that model will likely continue to the extent that they can market the needs and persuade their residents to vote for such items in referendums on the ballot.

This brings us to another great debate in the United States. How big do we want our Federal Government to be? I contend, as small as possible. There are a few things that the Federal Government, due to its enormity, is thought to be best suited for. Signing treaties and defending our borders come to mind first, but lest we forget the enormous role they played during the time of Lincoln, our first Republican? They lead our nation during a time of tremendous internal strife and it worked. We are a nation with larger borders, stronger values, and best of all, we are together. There is precedence in our nation's history for the successful and fruitful intervention of our Federal Government into the lives of its citizens. Its called leadership simply put. I recognize there to be times in our nation where we need one well articulated cause binding our 50 states and territories alike.

I hope this article helps further the debate in Washington, DC. I believe a cohesive plan of action, the weight of the Federal Government, and responsible compromise on these matters can benefit our nation as a whole. Direct investment into our nation's health is no less important than our investment into tanks and tomahawk cruise missiles.

The following image will forever be burned into my mind. The casket embodies the same wall that has separated Nancy Reagan from her beloved husband and our President, Ronald Wilson Reagan, for several years prior to his death. Ronald Reagan, one of our greatest political minds and an equally masterful presenter was unable to communicate with anyone for many years after he left the White House. What a tragedy it was to have lost such a wonderful mind. What a tragedy it was to have lost one of Washington's best leaders. What a tragedy it was to have lost one of Washington's best leaders. What a tragedy it would be not to intervene into the hopes and futures of families and individuals all over our great nation.

I recently became incensed with the news out of California of the 33-year-old single, unemployed mother, Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to octuplets last month. She had been taking care of her 6 other children with the help of $490 a month in food stamps as well as Social Security disability payments for three of the children. When asked how an only child ends up with 14, Nadya Suleman said:

"That was always a dream of mine, to have a large family, a huge family, and-- I just longed for certain connections and attachments with another person that I-- I really lacked, I believe, growing up."

Does this use of embryonic stem cells seem like a better alternative to the promise of research that could lead to cures for so many of our mind altering diseases? These 8 prematurely birthed children are expected to spend weeks in the hospital simply learning to live. The previous six children will likely all have middle child syndrome as well.

I can envision no way to explain Miss Suleman's decision to those hoping for just one chance at a life they already know, much less 8.

Answering Multi Level Marketing Online Or Old School

Whether you want to admit it or not, we are all in sales and marketing.  This is a fact we must all accept…as the old adage goes nothing happens until something gets sold.  You can call it or package it as you see fit (MLM, network marketing, direct sales,building a downline,  attraction marketing, lead generation, internet marketing) it all comes down to the same focus and conclusion, the sale.  The difference comes down to the tactics and methods used to get the sale.  Today let's look at answering multi level marketing online or old school.

In the last few years all of us have migrated to the internet more and more for the access to infinite amounts of information, right?  Enter a keyword and hitting that Google search button is all too powerful to ignore.  With that said, imagine using that addictive activity to your advantage.  What if you offered content about you, your network marketing business, product, or service and placed it online for others to find along their chosen search path?   How many interested people would find you and take a look? 

Let's look at a real example using the search topic how to embrace online marketing

This Google search has 1.3 million plus competing pages for these keywords or terms, 11 pay per click advertisements and 1.2 million plus monthly global searches (online marketing)as seen with Google Keyword tool.  Customer Traffic, YES!

By placing my article and video under these keywords, that's me, I have the potential for many people to read, view and listen to a solution to their search topic 24/7 from all around the world.  After finding the help they were seeking they might look further into me and what I do and visit my websites or blog, which can lead to sales. 

Here's a picture for you, what if you had 20, 40, 80 of these points of contact offering content and solutions for interested people to work their way back to you and your network marketing business, amazing right?  The bonus is the system you have put in place using the internet has completed much of the qualifying for you without your repetitive efforts.

Now let's refresh our minds on the old school ways all of us are familiar with in network marketing.  I apologize for the painful memories, but here goes…talking to anyone & everyone that can fog a mirror, friends & family, interested or not, handing out flyers, clubbing them on the head, dragging them to home meetings, and ultimately running out of people after combing your limited local area…finally ending the run burned out with little potential to continue.  Ouch!  No worries, you have a solution below.

Ok, I know that this is just one example, but it is the fate of 95% of network marketers using the old school ways.  The upside is many of the old school network marketing skills used here are valuable to an online marketing effort.  No matter the way to the customer and sale you must be able to communicate effectively with people via email, phone, and even face to face to have success.

Was He Mad?

Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity is: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I like to look at it as banging your head against a wall and expecting to make money for it. Doesn't usually work too well. There is apparently quite the debate amongst bloggers as to whether this was originally said by Benjamin Franklin, or Einstein, or someone else. Either way, its true. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is just not very smart any way you slice it.

The same thing applies to any business. The businesses that break the mold and do something new succeed. Those that continue with the status quo eventually are shown the Chapter 11 door. Horse carriage makers used to think that the whole automobile fad was just a phase that would pass. In a more modern example, huge, established airline companies are struggling while new, smaller companies are succeeding by focusing on low fares and customer satisfaction.

I know that is true, because when I first started in MLM, I made a list of my 100 closest friends and family membersI pitched my new life changing product to everyone I knew and everyone I ever metI spent THOUSANDS of dollars on leadsI spent THOUSANDS of dollars on training courses and "Proven Turnkey Systems". It wasn't quite as successful as I had hoped, to put it lightly.

The original businesses of network marketing began almost 100 years ago, with vitamin sales in the US. Since then, its has grown into an enormous and comprehensive industry with companies on all continents. (Yes, all continents. Somewhere, some scientist in Antarctica is pitching Xango or something like that to one of his coworkers. You know it) Obviously, the industry hasn't always remained the same, and success has favored the new and innovative. You shouldn't remain the same either.

MLM may have made you a millionaire. If so, stop reading and have a nice life. If not, you may be seeking a new way to break the mold of mediocrity and achieve that success that is captured by the few who possess the business courage and agility to do what it takes to get it.

How to Uncover Profitable Markets

Finding a niche that is profitable for you does not have to be a difficult task. Here are a few tips to get your gears grinding.

1. Look within in yourself. I know it sounds a little corny but it is a great way to get some ideas for a good niche to start with. Begin by answering a few questions yourself. What do you like? What products are vital to you? What types of services or products would make your life easier?
Spending some time sifting through your own wants and needs can yeild some interesting concepts for niches that you may want to investigate further.

2. Grab a pen and paper and quickly jot down the first 10 things that come to mind. Don't go into detail. Don't fight the flow or spend time second guessing the subjects that come to mind. Write them down and don't worry about whether they are silly or inapporpriate. You will have time to evaluate them later.

3.For more inspiration talk to friends family members. Keep a small note book with you and as subjects arise in conversation take a minute to write them down. A one or two word phrase will do the trick. The idea is to get some ideas for markets to explore, based on what types of issues come up among people you know.

4. Pay attention to T.V. commercials that catch your eye. What is being offered in that commercial? Also keeping track of what is popular on different television shows. Id there a product or a service that is being offered? Daytime talk shows can be a real inspriation about what is popular right now.

5. Be sure to check out Google Trends and Google Product Trends. This can be a wealth of information when it comes to finding the right profitable niche.

These methods are not particularly scientific they can yield some very interesting markets to research. Don't reject any idea until you have spent some time researching it in online.

Concepts that may seem completely off the wall or worth absolutely nothing may turn out to be gold mines. If research indicates that the subject is a dead end, then at least you have eliminated one possibility and saved yourself the trouble of pursuing that option at a future date. On the other hand, you may be surprised with what you find.

Using these lists of words or subjects that you have compiled, take to the Internet and start doing some digging around. The first thing you want to ascertain is how much interest there is associated with that particular word or phrase. One of the easiest ways to get a handle on this sort of thing is to use word tracking search engines online. There are several well-known ones that are very easy to use.

Uncovering a profitable niche is not as difficult as you may think.

Selling Your Music On MySpace For Independent Music Artists: Music Marketing And Promotion Tips

Like many musicians, waiting for a record label to find you can take a long time and even then, it may not be worth it. Instead, musicians are taking matters into their own hands and selling music by promoting it on MySpace. Since MySpace reaches millions of viewers each day, chances are you will be able to sell your music, make a profit, and create a fan base without needing to sign a recording contract.

Being your own boss

Without a recording contract, you will be able to choose the songs for your CD, the order of those songs, and when you want to record them. You will also be able to design cover art, inside pages, and other merchandise you may want to sell in conjunction with the CD or music downloads.

You will also be able to choose if you want to strictly sell songs that can be downloaded or if you want to record an actual CD.

You can choose to sell your music in different ways by creating a web site where people can download songs, or working with third-party distribution web sites that will take of packaging and shipping. Promoting your CD or downloadable songs on MySpace is a great way to generate interest. Make sure you include the URL of the site that is selling your music so fans will know where to go.

Cost of releasing your music

The cost of selling your music is much less expensive than it used to be. While you don't have to produce a CD, many musicians do anyway as a way to show their professionalism and so they can sell the CD at local gigs and events. Radio stations and other broadcasters need CDs in order to play them on the air.

When looking for web sites to package and distribute your CD, find ones that are popular or ask advice from other musicians who have gone the same route. You may have to raise money for these costs by playing extra gigs, or selling downloads first, but it will be worth it. Creating a band web site

While MySpace is currently working on building a storefront where musicians can sell their merchandise directly on the site, you may have to create your own web site and sell your CD there until this new feature is up and running. But that doesn't mean you cant advertise on MySpace, work with other musicians to cross-sell music, or find other ways to promote your sound.
A band web site should be an extension of your MySpace profile page. Include your web site on your profile page so fans will know where to go when they want to buy a CD, see additional photos, or find out where you will be playing next.

MySpace is a great way to promote your music and help your CD or downloadable songs sell even faster. The internet is a large landscape, but with a little help from MySpace, you will be able to let fans know where they can buy your music and learn more about your sound.

The iPod - A True Musical Revolution

There is no doubt that iPods are changing how we are listening to music. It is changing how people listen to music. It is changing how they buy music. It is even changing how companies market music. It really is a true musical revolution.

Technology is truly exploding. How often do you see a new electronic gizmo on the market? You can get cell phones that take pictures or even videos. Music can be brought along with in your iPod. Ring tones can be of your favorite song. Accessories can be purchased to make your iPod or cell phone fit your personality.

iPods are changing how we listen to music. No longer are we forced to choose on one radio station with one style of music. Your play list is entirely of your own choosing. You can choose an Italian opera for one song and the latest rap music for the next. Mix country and hip-hop, oldies and alternative. You do not even have to listen to commercials!

When variety is essential, iPods are perfect. They allow for easy portability to the beach or the gym. Parents can download kid-friendly songs and have the perfect soundtrack for a long car ride - without having to worry about R-rated conversations from the DJs or questionable music lyrics. With anywhere from 1000 to 10,000 song capacity on an iPod, users never have to get tired of hearing the same songs played over and over again.

iPods are changing how we watch movies as well. Now some iPod versions offer the capability to see video as well, and you can download the hottest new releases. It is an entertainment center in the palm of your hand, letting you have the ultimate in entertainment options. You can even download TV episodes and catch up on the latest Desperate Housewives while you are at the gym.

An entire side industry has opened up just to create accessories to give iPods the ultimate personalization. From colorful skins to practical carrying cases and from headphones to car chargers, iPods offer a myriad of options. There are even toys that can be plugged into your iPod. Accessories range from the practical and functional to those that are purely decorative.

Along the same lines, companies are changing designs of their current products to make room for iPod. Purses and briefcases offer larger pockets to carry an iPod in. Designers are making shirts and even ties with iPod pockets. There is even a stroller with a special iPod carrying space.

iPods are changing how companies market new music as well. With pod casting (a live feed of files placed on the internet for people to use) independent bands can market their music that would be too expensive for them to do otherwise. Shortened versions of the songs downloaded as ring tones are gaining popularity. No longer can companies focus just on the sale of music in stores, but they have to pay attention to what is being bought and downloaded online.

iPods are even changing the legal system. With so much music to download, legal issues began to crop up. The most infamous is Napster, where some artists sued because they were not getting compensated for their music that was being downloaded.

Now there is a variety of sites allowing you to pay a monthly subscription to download as many songs as you would like, or the option to pay a small fee per song. A boom in online music stores resulted, and now there are several places online where you can download music. Even Napster stayed around, in a newer form. Music piracy is another problem, keeping officials on their toes looking for illegal down loaders.

Also, as with any other great idea, other companies are starting to come up with their own version of the iPod. Companies such as Rio Audio, SanDisk, and even Dell have their own players on the market. Competition will keep iPod looking for bigger and better things for its consumers, which is a win-win all around.

As you can see, iPods have started a music revolution that has changed how the world looks at music and personal entertainment. It is very exciting to think of where it can go from here!
