Our company has looked at affiliate marketing programs in the past. The problems from the manufacturers side (if a legit company) is reputation. Finding an affiliate who can direct customers to us was the easy part, finding an affiliate whose website reflects closely to our goals and standards proved much more difficult. Also the risk involved is when an affiliate goes too far to press sales so as to earn their commission.
We allowed 2 sites to affiliate in the past. Later we found both had a lot of problems with their own business and it began to reflect on us.
So it’s not a one sided worry as to who is legit.
If your site is good, your service is excellent, and you have the right traffic, it will be easy for you to find a good company to work with.
Avoid those accepting your request blindly.
