Can you really make BIG money with affiliate marketing?
I have been planning to start affiliate marketing for a long time. I have read the ebook "Beating Adwords" and since then I became truly fascinated by internet marketing. In the ebook the authors say that the amount of money you make by affiliate marketing is equivalent to the time you put into it. Is it true? I am hoping to achieve at least 10,000$ a month and I am ready to work night and day for it. Is there anyone who can really prove that affiliate marketing can really be that profitable? I am becoming a little doubtful as it sounds too good to be true.
Just so its clear. I want to be an affiliate and promote other products on my own website.
The truth is you could make a decent living but it's a cut throat industry and you really have to know what you're doing while putting in a lot of time to perfect the craft. I'd suggest to do a lot of research before committing to any campaign and be prepared to suffer some set backs before you start making any significant money.
When I first started, I was lucky to make $10 a week. I did a lot of trial and error and went through some learning resources online. I make anywhere from $100-300 a day now typically working 4 to 5 hours a day. I also have a full time job as well so it's nice to have this additional income coming in.

You can make a lot of money but you need a lot of traffic. EBooks tend to have higher margins in them (no shipping, no manufacturing, no storage) and so tend to have higher payouts. You need a lot of traffic in any affiliate game. And I would recommend more than one website.
Multiple websites help with multiple geographical targets (Google usually tries to place 1 domain or part of a website with one country. For multiple locations, you should setup a new folder with content for that country and use Webmasters or setup new domains for those countries, using Google Webmasters again where necessary).
You should also learn about SEO and PPC advertising. Online Marketing in General. $10,000 is a big target, you may have to generate more than $100k in sales to do that – if you're average product sells for say $10, and you're average customer buys 1 product, you'll have to shift 10,000 a month. Based on a 10% example average conversion ration, that's 100,000 people you'll need per month or 4546 people a day. That's a lot!
With Google AdWords/Pay-Per-Click, lets say you spend $1 per visitor, that's $4546 per day….ouch! So you'll need to understand SEO.

and have seen linear revenue growth correlated to traffic.
Based on our historical data (9 months worth), 10K/month is achievable, once we reach X number of unique users to the site.

I think, and this is hard to dispute, affiliate marketing is the absolute best way to start making money online. Affiliate marketing offers tons of benefits and upside as opposed to the downside of affiliate marketing.

if you work hard it is profitable but you gotta get your affiliate link out there,there are many ways to do that free and not so free like adwords,forums,yahoo search marketing (basically adwords but by google),backlinks,blogs etc. it really is one of the best ways to make money online and once you get your link out there and your getting traffic and making a decent income for a couple months then you can stop promoting it because its out there and is probably getting alot of hits a day but i don't recommend not promotiong it and always cloak your link buy a domain name and forward that domain name to your affiliate link so it doesnt look like whatever.hop.xxx.clickbank.com or whatever affiliate market you are using
